“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Psalms 46:10 NLT)
Two commands:
BE still!
KNOW that I AM God.
When we do this, God will be honored by every nation, by everyone throughout the world!
We often act as though prayer is primarily an act of speech or language, but is it? At its most basic level, isn’t prayer about position or placement of oneself before God? BE still and when you do, you’ll know.
Consider how we position ourselves physically when we pray. We kneel, bow our heads or bodies, some even become prostrate before God. If prayer is more about our position or placement before our Holy God, then prayer is essentially bringing all that God is to bear upon all that we are, not just upon all that we want and need.
So, effective prayer is less about what we say or request and more about how we approach God and position ourselves before Him, focus on Him and submit all that we are to all that He is, all that we seek to all that He seeks in our lives, and all that we ask to all that He wants and desires in us.
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16 HCSB)
