It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I love Christmas! I think it is probably that 5 year old boy that still lives deep down inside me. I can’t help it. Honestly, back then it was more about what was waiting under the tree when I woke up early on Christmas morning. Now, it is more about making that same feeling happen in my grandkids, and the JOY of knowing the real reason we celebrate.

Christmas is certainly not the only time that we should recognize and celebrate God’s incredible gift, but it ought to be the most obvious. So, just for a minute, stop and consider the implications of God embedding HIMSELF into His creation in the form of a small helpless child. Immanuel, God with us!

If you get excited about the idea of gift giver at Christmas who arrives on a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer, just imagine the greatest gift of all time arriving in a stable delivered by a young Jewish girl and her anxious husband. God, the infinite creator of the universe, has placed himself in their care. What’s even more amazing is He has entrusted us with sharing that story.

So, instead of bragging on the “jolly old elf” in the red suit this year, get excited about the story of Immanuel/Jesus the Messiah/the great I AM coming to His creation so that we can find our way back home!
